Soap making in Nablus goes back to the 14 century. Nablus is known for it’s soap making industry throughout the region. Last century Nablus had at least a couple dozen factories. That number declined due to the destruction following the earthquake in 1927 and later with Israeli occupation. These days there are only a handful of factories.

This block of soap is made at the Nablus Soap Company , run by the Tbeleh family.
